We love an excuse to travel and see a new place. Uncle Dave's graduate program was taking a "field trip" to France (their businesses here and surrounding areas) and Aunt Jeanette got to come along. So, we made it a priority to vacation to France to see them.
We stayed in Northeast France (Alsace) close to the city of Strasbourg "the crossroads of Europe".
Cathedrale Notre Dame - 11th Century sandstone.
The Gothic Pillar of Angels sits next to the Astronomical Clock. When this clock chimes at 12:31, mechanical figures appear.
Lovely Aunt Jeanette and Andrew.
Aunt Jeanette and Sleeping Andrew - and another cathedral.
We visited the ducks and swans often. Andrew loved throwing food to them and watching them paddle close by.
For me and Ella, the entire first day was spent in the hotel room. She caught a 24hr stomach flu during the night, so we made the most of it with hair-doing, nail painting, French TV, games, stories, and anything else we could do sitting on a bed next to a garbage can! She was so brave and endured well.

Cool visit. How long was the journey to Paris?
ReplyDeleteFrom our home in Italy the drive was about 7 hours. We stayed in Strasbourg, France (we didn't get to Paris - I think that's an additional 3 hours) for 3 days.
